Singapore Dreaming

For all of those actually IN Singapore reading this, I apologize right off the bat for the movie reference (I liked it though, so shush on you)

Now then, I figured I'd post a few random pictures of around this teeny little country that I am currently calling home. So, let's get to it, shall we?



So, after a stressful first day of trying to get paperwork done on campus (my god, Singaporean paperwork + university paperwork = not a happy Colin). A nice lady at the international student office made me a list of things to do and just chatted me up for a bit, so following her wonderful advice, I went to the international student's orientation, where I met the two goobers you see above. They answer to the names James and Caro, and have been my two most steady friends since getting here. Man, we look stoned here. This is after we said that the international student's thing was getting dull, so we went downtown. Good times



And yes, the buildings are thick in downtown. Everything is very planned, so there actually is a lot of space in most places, and lots of greenery. Still, a wall of skyscrapers is might impressive.



And hooray for the day of doing tacky tourist things! Merlion statue (?...I don't know why either, just play along), Esplanade Theatres (complete with mall and such inside too... commonly referred to as "The Big Durians" as they buildings look like the smelly fruit of the same name) and the Swisshotel (big tower. remember, you're not a metroploitan area without a proper phallic symbol)



Eating is also important, whether you're under a bridge or not. Though this was tasty, so can't complain.

And remember, it's just not asia without SNAKES! Yeah, it's a bit random, but it was fun. Just look at the hat!


And yes, homosexuality technically illegal... bring in the offices of the ministry of irony (fitting, as they have a ministry for EVERYTHING here)





And since I just feel like I need to post this thing one of these days, as I'm VERY lazy about this now, I will just post a few pictures of my residence (all blurry, as I only remember to take pictures at night it seems). Take it easy all, I will try to post again soon....if you're still reading at any rate.
